For a country which can be pretty miserable at times, we produce more than our fair share of happy indie-pop bands, Teenage Fan Club, Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, BMX Bandits, The Pastels, etc. Now we can add Spaghetti Anywhere to that ever growing list.

Selkirk’s Frightened Rabbit are no strangers to SXSW. The beloved hare band were in Austin in 2007 and 2008 and they will return this year stronger than ever with their new album “The Winter of Mixed Drinks” set for release on March 1.

Glasgow band Fangs will be heading to SXSW for the first time this year. According to the band, they aim to deliver no-wave dirty disco direct to the dance floor. As well as their Austin gigs listed below, Fangs will also be dirtying dance floors in New York, Vegas and LA:

Like most of the new music featured on Dear Scotland, The Agitator was brought to our attention by Vic Galloway after Vic attended the Trans Musicales Festival in December. The Agitator is quickly gaining a reputation for his compelling live shows and he recently spoke to Dear Scotland about his upcoming tour of France and more:

Codeine Velvet Club is the new project of Jon Lawler from The Fratellis and the classically-trained, multi-instrumentalist, burlesque influenced Lou Hickey. Together with a cracking band that includes one of Scotland’s Greatest Ever Drummers, Ross McFarlane, they liken themselves to “John Barry playing with a rock’n’roll band”.
