It’s Burns Night tonight and somewhat fittingly Vic Galloway highlights singer, guitarist and poet Malcolm Middleton in Ireland as his Scottish international gig of the week. More on Malcolm below along with details on 13 other Scottish bands and artists on tour outside the UK this week:
This week BBC Radio’s Vic Galloway tells us why Dolby Anol in Berne is his pick of all the Scottish artists playing outside the UK this week. Twin Atlantic, The Twilight Sad, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro all have gigs in Central Europe too. Full details of all this week’s international shows below:
The nights are fair drawing in and Malcolm Middleton is excited again about music. He’ll play solo in Prague and Athens next week ahead of a “Long, Dark Night” acoustic tour of the UK. Malcolm has also been back in the studio with Aidan Moffat working on an Arab Strap boxset and more:
Sons & Daughters supported The Pixies last night in Glasgow and next weekend they will join Glasvegas to headline the Vena Festival in Poland. Below, Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway highlights Sons & Daughters as his pick of all the Scottish international gigs this week.
The Pictish Trail (Johnny Lynch) is currently on tour in Europe with former Arab Strap Malcolm Middleton. Tonight the Pictish Trail are in Koln Germany and Vic highlights that gig along with their other shows in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway as his pick of all the Scottish gigs abroad this week.
The Twilight Sad are currently in the middle of their North American Scottish invasion tour with Frightened Rabbit and We Were Promised Jetpacks. This week the three bands will be in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Alabama and according to Vic, The Twilight Sad will take your breath away.
The Cinematics are in Belgium tonight, Nurnberg on Wednesday and Berlin on Friday, and Vic highlights those gigs as his pick of this week’s Scottish shows abroad. The band have recently finished recording a new album which will be released on 28th September 2009.
This week Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway highlights Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks in Germany and Belgium as his Scottish gigs of the week. After their European shows, the Jetpacks will head to North America for a mini Scottish invasion with the Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit.
As mentioned earlier this week, Malcolm Middleton will be all over in Europe this autumn and The Pictish Trail (Jonny Lynch) will be opening for the former Arab Strapper. The Pictish Trail recently recorded a session with Matthew in Edinburgh. Tour dates and video from that session below.
