I’ve had a few bands contact me over the past few weeks asking for some tips on where to play at SXSW and what to bring etc, so I thought I’d write a brief guide on here, but everything you really need to know is in this article written by Geoff Martyn:

Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: 35 New Tours Announced for 2011 by Scottish Artists
As Vic has been taking a well earned break after hosting Edinburgh’s Hogmanay party with Biffy Clyro, Dear Scotland has been updating the Scotland on Tour database with almost 300 new international shows from Scottish artists as diverse as Primal Scream, Isobel Campbell, Mogwai, Eddi Reader and Nazareth. The Perfect Christmas Gift for Expats
Christmas for expats can sometimes be a bit tough. If there is ever a time when homesickness is guaranteed to kick in it will be Christmas, Boxing Day or Hogmanay. That said, I know that this year wont be as bad because I can now watch live UK telly whenever I want with Expat Surfer.

Watch Scotland v Faroe Islands Live with Expat Surfer
Scotland will play the Faroe Islands later today in a friendly match at Pittodrie. The game will be streaming live on Sky Player to viewers in the UK, but if you live abroad and connect using Expat Surfer, you won’t need to search out dodgy internet sites to see the match.

Scottish Bands Announced for SXSW 2011
SXSW has just released, earlier than ever, the first list of acts who have been invited to perform in Austin at South by Southwest 2011. Among the first 100 or so named are three Scottish acts: Jon Fratelli, Steve Mason and Dam Mantle. We’ll keep you updated here whenever more are announced.
