Twin Atlantic’s scheduled tour of Europe hit a few snags this week but last night’s show with Fall of Troy in Heidelberg went ahead and tonight’s show in Paris is definitely happening. Craig Neale has also been in touch to give us his suggestion for Scotland’s Greatest Ever Drummer:
By all accounts it has been a frustrating week for Twin Atlantic with the cancellation of their shows in Germany due to circumstances outwith their control, but on the positive side, at least the lads were finally able to have a day off. Tonight the band will definitely play at Batofar in Paris. Ticket details are here. Next week Vic Galloway will introduce Twin Atlantic as Scotland’s representative at the BBC Introducing United Nations event in Belfast.
The Belfast gig will feature all 4 BBC Introducing DJ’s who will introduce a band from their country. Rory McConnell from Northern Ireland will introduce Two Door Cinema Club. Huw Stephens will introduce England’s Pulled Apart By Horses, Bethan Elfyn from Wales will introduce Saves Your Breath and our man Vic Galloway will introduce Twin Atlantic as the Scottish contender.
This is a free event and tickets are sold out, however if you are in Belfast you could still get down to the Mandela Hall early on Tuesday 17th November, as we’ve been advised there will be a limited number of tickets on the door.
Earlier this week, Twin Atlantic drummer Craig Neale managed to steal the Wi-Fi from a Cologne hotel just long enough to give us his choice for Scotland’s Greatest Ever Drummer:
Craig Neale on Kenny Hyslop
“Well I’ll go for Kenny Hyslop then. I’ve unfortunately never seen Kenny live but he was an inspiration to me as my teacher when I started playing the drums when I was 16. He’s played in bands with many of the Glasgow luminaries like Midge Ure and he most famously played in Simple Minds.
His enthusiasm for teaching new players is unwavering and he always treats you like an equal, even when you’re starting out (even though he’s still leagues ahead of most).
His rock n’ roll attitude to teaching sets him apart for me . He taught me that you don’t have to learn to a set of rules – you can be an individual.”
