Camera Obscura are set to play one of the biggest shows of their career so far at Coachella tomorrow and last week they were in Austin for a show at Emo’s on 6th. I met up with the band at Casino El Camino to talk about Coachella, the Beastie Boys, Craig Ferguson and Doctor Who.

Today Vic highlights one last gig of 2009, and it sounds like a cracker. We Were Promised Jetpacks and Frightened Rabbit will join Vic Galloway on stage at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party on Thursday night. The music starts at 9pm. Well, it’s that time of year… best album of the year, best single of the year, best weekly gig blog on Dear Scotland etc! Yes, it makes sense for me to do my best gig of the year! It’s a tricky one as I’ve seen so many. However, one really sticks in my mind:
Sons & Daughters supported The Pixies last night in Glasgow and next weekend they will join Glasvegas to headline the Vena Festival in Poland. Below, Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway highlights Sons & Daughters as his pick of all the Scottish international gigs this week.
For those who enjoyed reminiscing about the Barrowland Ballroom in Parts One & Two, this is a more personal look at Alec’s favourite Barrowland gigs. It was going to be a top ten before he got lost in memories of laughs, tears, hugs and flying cups of pish and it became a magical top 50. Enjoy.
The Twilight Sad are currently in the middle of their North American Scottish invasion tour with Frightened Rabbit and We Were Promised Jetpacks. This week the three bands will be in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Alabama and according to Vic, The Twilight Sad will take your breath away.
The Cinematics are in Belgium tonight, Nurnberg on Wednesday and Berlin on Friday, and Vic highlights those gigs as his pick of this week’s Scottish shows abroad. The band have recently finished recording a new album which will be released on 28th September 2009.
This week Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway highlights Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks in Germany and Belgium as his Scottish gigs of the week. After their European shows, the Jetpacks will head to North America for a mini Scottish invasion with the Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit.
