  • FOUND Sign To Chemikal Underground FOUND, like many in Edinburgh, have become more than just bands whose music I enjoy, over the last couple of years they have become a group of guys I genuinely consider to be friends. Consequently, it’s not just a mere journalist’s satisfaction at being vindicated that I feel when they achieve success, such as with […] Matthew Young

  • You Have Been Watching…Local Hero We can quibble about what is Scotland’s greatest film or who is our greatest director, but it is difficult to refute that Bill Forsyth’s run of his four ‘Scottish’ films has never been equaled. From debut That Sinking Feeling, through Gregory’s Girl and Comfort and Joy before finishing off in fine style with Local Hero, […] Alistair Braidwood

  • Champions League? You’re Having A Laugh Hamilton Academicals home stadium is New Douglas Park, capacity 6000.  On Saturday afternoon they hosted the reigning Scottish champions and despite losing an early goal, they rallied to take charge of the game and deservedly scored an equaliser.  They came  close to scoring a second before losing out to a superb late goal from Kenny […] Billy Williamson

  • Win tickets to see Belle & Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub in NYC Dear Scotland has been listing every Scottish gig outside the UK for a while now, but the show scheduled for September 30th in Brooklyn will likely be one of the biggest and best yet. Teenage Fanclub will join Belle & Sebastian at the Williamsburg Waterfront, and we have two tickets to give away. Pete Reid

  • You Have Been Watching… Shallow Grave Before Trainspotting there was Shallow Grave, Scotland’s filmic John the Baptist if you like. The 1980s had been pretty barren in terms of Scottish cinema, Bill Forsyth aside. Even those films that were being made, such as the previously featured Restless Natives and Soft Top, Hard Shoulder, did not do significant box office. Alistair Braidwood

  • Over But Not Out “It’s over,” said the BBC commentator Liam McLeod in the fourth minute of injury time against Liechtenstein.  He was referring to Barry Robson’s free kick but he could just as well have been talking about our campaign: over, before it began. Billy Williamson

  • Indelible Ink : Buddha Da If I was to recommend a Scottish book to you that is based on religion you may rightly have some preconceptions as to what it would be like. It may be a generalisation but Scotland and religion tend to mix like oil and water, or perhaps oil and fire is a better example. Many of […] Alistair Braidwood
