Radio Scotland and Radio 1 legend Vic Galloway has more on the brilliant new Scottish band ‘Hey Enemy’ and why they are the band to see this week in Europe. Vic also has the only listing of every Scottish band on tour outside the UK this week. Check out Scotland on Tour for more shows.

Hey Enemy in Switzerland, The Netherlands and Belgium
by Vic Galloway

Terrifying Tayside Trio turn up the guitars loud, then turn them up some more… and when you think they’re loud enough, they turn them up just that little bit extra!

Calling to mind noise-niks and guitar-slingers of the scuzziest kind, like Shellac, Jesus Lizard, Nomeansno and early Nirvana, they mean business and never sacrifice a good tune, riff or hilarious song title. Check out ‘Puppyhammer’, ‘Ambulance Chaser’ or ‘Happy Sanchez’ for proof of a purile, but frankly sick sense of humour.

Uncompromising and visceral live, they are on the road with Helsinki Seven across France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and then a few shows back in good ol’ blighty. The DIY ethic is alive and well with these guys, so if you want to support some top-quality, grass-roots, homegrown punk-rock – get along and see them asap.

Dear Scotland also spoke with Hey Enemy recently about this European Tour:

DS: Is there one place on the tour schedule that you are most looking forward to playing?
Chet — Caspin just pointed out that we’ll be passing over that huge particle accelerator when we go to Geneva so that’ll be pretty awesome. The chance to be the first people at the event horizon of the black hole that destroys earth is worthy of anticipation.

DS: What will be your first words on stage on the first show of the tour?
Chet — “Is this thing on?”
Jesus — “Uhhhh, does anyone have a power adaptor?”
Caspin — “Bonjour Jim a pel Stirling.”
