Edinburgh’s Young Fathers will be taking their unique brand of Hip-Hop to Paris this week and Vic Galloway has chosen that as his Scottish international gig of the week. More below along with details of all the gigs abroad including Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds and Annie Stevenson.

Young Fathers in Paris

by Vic Galloway

It’s life-affirming to see Edinburgh’s party Hip-Hop trio getting the plaudits that I think they deserve, and casting the net a little further with live shows and new releases. Young Fathers manage to nail down old-skool, electro-boogie raps and rhymes with modern production techniques and psychedelic, off the wall lyrics about parties, girls, dancing and underwater sealife!

They body-pop and break-dance live with choreographed moves and a serious sense of humour, so it’s almost impossible not to get swept away in their good-times live show. Check out the new single ‘Automatic’ and collaborations with Stanton Warriors and Simian Mobile Disco for proof of their versatility and skills.

If you can imagine a multi-ethnic, pop version of the Beastie Boys but from Edinburgh, you’re getting close… get straight into their Paris show if you’re nearby.

Also on tour this week: The Cinematics, Alex Smoke, Hostage, Hudson Mohawke, Biffy Clyro, Annie Stevenson, Simple Minds and Lloyd Cole.
