Edinburgh’s Broken Records have a couple of interesting shows coming up. They’ll play a special Burns night show at King Tuts on the 24th and next weekend they’ll be at the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen. Vic has more on that gig and details on all the Scottish bands on tour this week:

Broken Records in The Netherlands

The Edinburgh Septet are once again on the road and appear at Eurosonic in Groningen. I’ve never been but I’ve been told over the years, by the likes of the one and only John Peel, that it’s a brilliant music extravaganza. I’m sure Broken Records will do extremely well, as they truly come alive onstage.

The bluster and bombast of their songs is wholly suited to large cavernous rooms filled with crowds of drunken romantics linking arms and singing along. Expect songs from last year’s debut ‘Until the Earth Begins To Part’ LP and the recent EP as well as potentially a few new songs.

If you don’t know what they sound like… epic folk-tinged indie with guitars, fiddles, accordion, cello, bass, drums and anthemic songs in copious amounts. One of the capital’s finest exports and definitely worth checking live and in recorded form. I hope to see them have a cracking 2010!
