  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Social Services It’s a funny wee world. I have been running the Peenko blog for almost two years and I honestly can’t quite believe how many cracking local bands I have ‘discovered’. The one thing that I hadn’t fully expected was to have my little sister ask me if I had heard of one of her best […] Lloyd Meredith

  • Swimmer One – ‘Dead Orchestras’ Reviewed If you really want to become knowledgeable about music, the only way seems to be to read liner notes.  I glanced at the ones which came with Swimmer One’s latest album and who should I see but Pete Harvey.  Who I’ve seen onstage with The Leg, Meursault, Animal Magic Tricks, Willard Grant Conspiracy and Christ […] Matthew Young

  • You Have Been Watching… Restless Natives The term cult film is really overused. • The Glorious Twelve Today is the Glorious Twelfth – the beginning of the shooting season for red grouse.  There’s no equivalent name for the start of the Scottish football calendar – Sensational Saturday? – but this weekend sees the twelve powers of the Scottish Premier League re-align for another smashing season of soccer.  Read on for a dozen […] Billy Williamson

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Call To Mind I think I have started to notice a pattern to these posts, I have a tendency to find myself having back to back posts from bands of the same geographical areas. Last week I had Highland duo Bronto Skylift, and this week I have gone with another band from the same neck of the woods. Lloyd Meredith
