So here we are in the first of what I plan to be a weekly feature, cheesily entitled ‘Scots Way-Hay’ (if you think that’s bad you should have seen the one’s I chose not to use). If all goes according to plan I should have a band/artist introducing themselves to you each week.

I recently received a copy of Minstrels Poets and Vagabonds, the history of rock music in Glasgow from the sixties up to the present day. Written by promoter and DJ Robert Fields the book is a fascinating history of a musical genre that is at best ignored, at worst ridiculed.

This week in SEAN, James McAvoy gets nominated for an award and makes the front cover of Nylon Magazine, Kevin McKidd promotes the Percy Jackson film, Ewan McGregor is promoting Phillip Morris in France and John Barrowman appears on Jonathan Ross.

Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks are currently on their first headline North American tour. The 26 date adventure will wind its way through America and Canada before rolling up at the SXSW festival where they will certainly be one of this year’s buzz bands. Vic Galloway has more:

Glasgow’s Three Blind Wolves have been building a strong following back home and toured late last year with Frightened Rabbit. The band will be in Dublin later this month and we spoke to Ross Clark about playing in Ireland and why he might turn into Rab C. Nesbitt.

After a breakthrough year in 2009, Paolo Nutini’s album went back to Number One in the UK last month thanks to a show stealing performance on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. Next up for Paolo is a gig in Dubai and a German tour with Pink. Details and Jools videos below:
