After Austin, Vic is taking a few days off in San Francisco this week but he still had time to see Twin Atlantic at Slims on Friday night and recommend them as his pick of the Scottish bands playing outside the UK this week. Vic will be back on Radio 1 on Wednesday night.

The mighty Twin Atlantic continue their quest for World domination after another successful trip to SXSW in Austin Texas. Promoting their excellent debut LP ‘Vivarium’ they are currently criss-crossing their way across the USA and Canada.

Having had them in session various times and introduced them onstage on several occasions, I can definitely recommend them as a powerful, explosive live act with just the right balance between an untamed, out-of-control stage shtick and excellent, tight musicianship with choruses that will soon be setting radio alight over the world.

Their tour with The Fall of Troy and Envy on the Coast has been a superb introduction to American audiences. If you’re anywhere near one of the dates this week, and you like catchy but angular, modern rock music – you’re in for a treat!
