With the chaos of SXSW over for another year, most of the Scottish bands are heading home now but the Codeine Velvet Club were on a 6am flight to Seattle yesterday to start a mini west coast tour with Metric. Vic has more on CVC and all the details of Scotland on Tour this week:

Codeine Velvet Club supporting Metric in the US

Following their successful visit to Austin, Texas and the SXSW festival, the Fratellis’ offshoot and now a force to be reckoned with in their own right, CVC hit the road supporting the hugely popular Canadian alt-popsters Metric on the West Coast.

Expect glamorous, addictive pop tunes fronted by men in suave suits and a lovely lady in a burlesque dress. Jon Lawler and Lou Hickey swap vocal melodies and cheeky glances, as they tear through tracks from their debut LP and a few well-placed cover versions such as ‘I am the Resurrection’ by Stone Roses… and yes, it does actually work!

It has a lovely retro vibe, and Jon’s ear for an insanely catchy melody is fully on show. Well worth checking out if you can.

Also on tour this week: The Law, Fangs, Twin Atlantic, Tommy Reilly, Hudson Mohawke, Franz Ferdinand, Django Django, Eddi Reader and Errors.
