Comprised of ex Drive-By Argument members, Midnight Lion are a synth-pop duo from Glasgow who have been compared to a “21st century version of The Associates“.

Having only recently released a few home-recordings they are already generating quite a buzz and were even recently tipped as one of Vodafone Ones to Watch (hey, they nicked my title…)
If there’s any justice in the world then these guys will be huge in 2010, I appreciate that’s quite a bold statement, but once you’ve had a listen I doubt you’ll disagree.

Would you care to introduce yourself?
I’m Stewart Brock, one half of Midnight Lion.

How would you describe the music you make?

Dramatic, ambitious pop music.

How did you start out making music?
We met at University in 2004 and have been writing together under different guises since then. Midnight Lion has been alive and well since around August 09.

What process goes into the way you write songs?

It really depends. Sometimes one of us will finish a song to the best of our abilities and then hand it over to the other. Sometimes one of us will have a rough idea but won’t know where to take it, so we work through it together. Generally music is finished before lyrics and melodies.
...
What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?

We’re hoping to spend some time putting a live show together, with a view to getting out on the road as soon as we can. We also want to continue writing and demoing new tracks.

Lastly, the question that’s on everyone’s lips is it possible to blow a balloon up under water?
I reckon with a large enough unit of pressure you could. It depends how far you are under the water… and the type of balloon.

To be honest if it wasn’t for a drunken conversation with Wull who runs Define Pop Promotions they would have passed me by completely passed me by, so kudos goes out to him for pointing me in their direction.
