Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Gothenburg Address
I’ve never really been a massive fan of post-rock bands, though it’s never been through a lack of trying. I own a couple of Mogwai albums and have seen them live on numerous occasions, but while some grown men weep I usually find my mind wandering.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Boy Who Trapped The Sun
It’s not often that I post about artists on major labels, however, in The Boy Who Trapped The Sun’s case I am more than happy to make an exception. It was the session that he recorded for Vic Galloway last year that first brought him to my attention.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Burnt Island
When I first decided to do a weekly post about up and coming Scottish artists, the first name that came to mind was Burnt Island. With their forthcoming mini-album, ‘Music and Maths’ due out on March 15th, I can now stop sitting on my hands and proclaim my new found love for this band.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – We’re Only Afraid Of NYC
There’s something in a name. For a new band, if you get that right you’re already half way there. Plenty of bands come up with catchy names, only a few have the tunes to back them up. we’re only afraid of NYC are one of those bands.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Spaghetti Anywhere
For a country which can be pretty miserable at times, we produce more than our fair share of happy indie-pop bands, Teenage Fan Club, Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, BMX Bandits, The Pastels, etc. Now we can add Spaghetti Anywhere to that ever growing list.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Brother Louis Collective
So here we are with week two of ‘Scots Way-Hay’ and still that cheesy title isn’t getting any better. Thankfully though the music remains at a high standard. This weeks victims are ‘Brother Louis Collective’, an indie-pop five, sometimes going on six piece from Glasgow.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Ardentjohn
So here we are in the first of what I plan to be a weekly feature, cheesily entitled ‘Scots Way-Hay’ (if you think that’s bad you should have seen the one’s I chose not to use). If all goes according to plan I should have a band/artist introducing themselves to you each week.

Peenko’s Ones to Watch in 2010: Silver Columns
So here we go, it’s time for the last of my tips for 2010 and what a belter we have to round things off, none other than the mysterious beings known as Silver Columns. Imagine Jimmy Somerville being horse whipped by the Hot Chip boys and you’re half way there.

Peenko’s Ones to Watch in 2010: The Unwinding Hours
The Unwinding Hours debut album is for me and I’m sure many others one of the most hotly-anticipated albums of 2010. Formed from the ashes of Scottish alternative/post-rock rock band, Aerogramme, the band played their first gig at the Chemikal Underground birthday bash on Sunday night.
