  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Last Battle For those of you that don’t already know, I am a Glasweigan, born and bred. The reason that I mention this, is that it really does feel as if I spend every other week posting about some amazing Edinburgh band that I want to share with you all. This week it’s The Last Battle, an […] Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Come on Gang! On Friday, Come on Gang! released their new single ‘Fortune Favours The Brave’, it’s one of the best pop songs I have heard all year, and not only that, but they’re also giving it away for free. If you’ve never come across the Edinburgh trio then boy are you in for one hell of a […] Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Son(s) There’s a certain amount of irony in me posting about a band called The Son(s) in the week that I had a beautiful baby daughter. But that’s enough about my private (or not so private) life, on to The Son(s), one of the greatest bands in Scotland that you’ve probably still to have heard of. Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – A Band Called Quinn I’ve featured a lot of indie folk-pop bands recently, so I thought it was about time that I branched out a little. A Band Called Quinn are most certainly pop, but there’s no folk to be had here, this is electro-pop done at it’s finest. Lloyd Meredith

  • Kid Canaveral – ‘Shouting at Wildlife’ Reviewed The launch of this album was, entirely unsurprisingly, one of most enjoyable gigs I’ve been to in a long time.  I think Lloyd from Peenko was officially having The Most Fun He Has Ever Had, it was sweaty as fuck, and the whole experience was just fantastic. • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Yahweh The first time I heard Yahweh was back last year on the inaugural Under the Radar podcast, there was a lot of great tracks on the show, but for me this was the one that stood out. Later that week I found myself in Avalanche Records in Glasgow (now Love Music, although it will always […] Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – The Social Services It’s a funny wee world. I have been running the Peenko blog for almost two years and I honestly can’t quite believe how many cracking local bands I have ‘discovered’. The one thing that I hadn’t fully expected was to have my little sister ask me if I had heard of one of her best […] Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Call To Mind I think I have started to notice a pattern to these posts, I have a tendency to find myself having back to back posts from bands of the same geographical areas. Last week I had Highland duo Bronto Skylift, and this week I have gone with another band from the same neck of the woods. Lloyd Meredith

  • Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Bronto Skylift And Now for Something Completely Different….. There has been an overly large percentage of indie-folk bands in the past few months. So it’s time to bring in some rock, and not your average run of the mill rock. No this is some of the most ferocious, intense noise to have emerged from this wee nation […] Pete Reid
