Scottish Bands at SXSW 2012 – Updated

Earlier today the Scottish Music Industry Association announced via press release that eleven Scottish bands, DJs and producers will showcase as part of this year’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The updated list adds several new acts to those that were already made public by SXSW last month.
According to today’s SMIA press release, the full list of Scottish artists showcasing at SXSW are:
French Wives
Hudson Mohawke
Django Django
Jackmaster
Tango in the Attic
Three Blind Wolves
The Twilight Sad
Twin Atlantic
We Were Promised Jetpacks
Woodenbox
The Xcerts
However, several other sources have reported this week that The Jesus and Mary Chain will also be attendance. And based on our “Are They Really Scottish?” rules, we are also claiming My Name is You for our Scottish contingent.

SMIA also announced that there will be two Scottish showcases at SXSW:
Wednesday 14 March – Easy Tiger 8pm – 2am
We Were Promised Jetpacks, Django Django, Three Blind Wolves, French Wives, Tango in the Attic and Woodenbox.
Friday 16 March – British Music Embassy – Latitude 30 2.30-5.30pm
The Twilight Sad, The Xcerts,Three Blind Wolves and Jackmaster.

Heading to Austin for sixth time!! Cannot wait. It may be too busy. It might not be as good as it used to be, but it is still a wild week of music in every nook and cranny. Working my way through the listings now. Only go to see bands that I have never seen live before. Of this year’s Scottish batch, looking forward to catching Three Blind Wolves. Past Scottish Highlights have been Broken Records, Frightened Rabbits, Admiral Fallow and the amazing La Zona Rosa late night Primal Scream show. It’s time, nearly…..
