Peenko’s Ones To Watch in 2011 #3 – Thirty Pounds of Bone
It might seem a bit of an odd choice for me to be choosing Thirty Pounds of Bone, aka multi-instrumentalist, Johny Lamb, as one of my tips for 2011. For one, his latest album, ‘Method’ came out last year, plus he doesn’t sound particularly Scottish, but ever since Al from Armellodie sent his album over […]

Peenko’s Ones To Watch in 2011 #2 – Happy Particles
The second act that I have high hopes for in 2011 are Glasgow seven piece, Happy Particles. Formed by members of Remember Remember, they first came to my attention at the tail end of last year, thanks to Halina from the Glasgow Podcart. She suggested I check them out as she thought they were pretty […]

Peenko’s Ones To Watch in 2011 #1 – FOUND
Chemikal Underground really do know their stuff. In recent years they’ve released some pretty amazing albums from the likes of the Phantom Band, De Rosa, Zoey Van Goey and Aidan Moffat. In 2011, they’re continuing this rich vein of form and in March of this year they will release FOUND’s third album ‘factorycraft’, it is […]

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay – The Artists’ Albums of the Year (Part 4)
When I sent emails out to all of last year’s Scots Way-Hay artists I honestly only expected to get a handful of replies back. How wrong I was. It turned out that most bands were pretty keen to let you all know what’s been tickling their fancy in 2010. So in the last of my […]

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay – The Artists Albums of the Year (Part 3)
When I sent emails out to all of the bands that I have featured this year as part of my Scots Way-Hay posts I honestly didn’t expect to get much of a response. Turns out that I was completely wrong, as I have been inundated by bands wanting to share what’s been floating their boat […]

The Scottish Blogger and Music Sites Award (The Scottish BAMS) 2010
Last year Lloyd / Peenko set up what he rather amusingly called the Scottish BAMS, a collection of people who write Blogs And Music websites which are kinda Scottishy – in the sense that they must either be based in Scotland, or written by Scots abroad, such as the Daily Growl or your Dear Scotland.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay – The Artists’ Albums of the Year (Part 1)
As it’s that time of year when every man and his dog is drawing up their end of year album lists, I thought I’d ask some of the bands that have done interviews for us this year as part of Scots Way-Hay, to tell me about their favourite albums of 2010.

Peenko’s Scots Way-Hay! – Seafieldroad
When I was growing up, my parents tried their best to get me to play a musical instrument of some sort. From the trombone to the piano, they really did try their damnedest to find something for which I might have a talent. Eventually I think they soon realised that playing music just wasn’t for […]
