- 14 Scottish Artists Now Confirmed for SXSW 2013 Earlier this week, Creative Scotland revealed that they would be supporting five Scottish bands and three DJs to attend this year’s SXSW Music festival in Austin. We can also add The Waterboys’ Mike Scott, Frightened Rabbit and more to the list of Scottish acts who’ll be there. Full list below:
- Scottish Bands at SXSW 2013 – 8 Bands Announced So Far Last week the SXSW Music festival announced a ton of bands for the 2013 event to be held next March in Austin, Texas. Among them are 8 new Scottish bands that will be hoping to be the next big thing of buzz.
- Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: Vic’s Best Gig of 2010 Biffy Clyro’s gig last night with Muse in Perth, Australia looks to have been the last of the hundreds of Scottish international gigs in 2010 so we asked Vic to tell us his gig of the year. He gave us two from the same band: Frightened Rabbit.
- Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: Edwyn Collins in Germany Vic is back after putting together his definitive list of the albums of 2010. On that list was Edwyn Collins new record and Vic has more on Edwyn who is on tour this week in Germany. Other artists touring this week include Biffy in Australia, and Fran Healy in the US. - Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: Idlewild in USA – CANCELLED We prepared this article a few days ago but news has now reached us that Idlewild’s long awaited return to the US has been cancelled as Rod Jones has broken his collarbone. However, I thought we should still give a nod to one of Scotland’s best bands and hope they’ll be back in America soon.
- Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: Teenage Fanclub in Germany Vic was in Austin with me this past weekend for the brilliant Fun Fun Fun Festival which is why this article is being published slightly later than usual. Anyway, Vic’s on his way back to sunny Scotland now but before he left he picked Teenage Fanclub in Germany as his international gig of the week.
- Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: The Phantom Band with Frightened Rabbit in the US Following the recent double bill of Belle and Sebastian with Teenage Fanclub in New York, Scottish music fans in America are in for another treat this week as Frightened Rabbit and The Phantom Band head to DC, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago. - Scottish Bands at CMJ 2010 Of the 1200 artists scheduled to play in New York City this week for the annual CMJ Festival, just two of them are from Scotland. Fortunately they are both brilliant: Glasgow’s The Phantom Band and Aberdeen’s The Xcerts. More details on the shows and their new albums below:
