Dear Scotland

Codeine Velvet Club will be playing in Bucharest tomorrow and head to Japan later this summer for what will likely be their last gig. Still, the band fronted by Scotland’s Most Eligible Lady Lou Hickey and Jon Fratelli went down a storm at SXSW and Lou recently spoke to us about that experience and more:

Vic is back on BBC Radio Scotland tonight with Rudi Zygadlo in session and a few new tunes that he picked up in Austin. For Scotland on Tour this week, Vic likes The Unwinding Hours in Germany and Switzerland as his pick of all the Scottish bands touring outside the UK.

With the chaos of SXSW over for another year, most of the Scottish bands are heading home now but the Codeine Velvet Club were on a 6am flight to Seattle yesterday to start a mini west coast tour with Metric. Vic has more on CVC and all the details of Scotland on Tour this week:

This week is almost certainly the biggest week of the year for Scottish international gigs. 14 Scottish bands are heading to the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas and Vic will be there too. Stonehaven’s Copy Haho are heading out on their first European tour this week in support of Los Campesinos!. Radio 1’s Vic Galloway tells us more about Copy Haho alongside his listing of every Scottish band playing outside the UK this week.

Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks are currently on their first headline North American tour. The 26 date adventure will wind its way through America and Canada before rolling up at the SXSW festival where they will certainly be one of this year’s buzz bands. Vic Galloway has more:
