- Dear Scotland – The Mixtape: Volume 1 Like many expat Scots, I find myself talking about Scotland a lot. And aside from the standard conversations about golf, whisky or Braveheart the subject of Scottish music frequently arises. In the past, when band names alone were not enough to impress certain people, I would end up making them a mixtape or cd.
- Scotland on Tour with Vic Galloway: Codeine Velvet Club With the chaos of SXSW over for another year, most of the Scottish bands are heading home now but the Codeine Velvet Club were on a 6am flight to Seattle yesterday to start a mini west coast tour with Metric. - Interview with Django Django Though initially accepted and confirmed for SXSW 2010, London based Scottish band Django Django sadly were not able to get visas issued in time. Dave and Tommy spoke with Dear Scotland earlier this month when it looked like they were heading to Texas. It’s a really funny interview and hopefully they’ll make it next time.
- Scotland at South by Southwest 2010 Four weeks tomorrow the music world will descend on Austin, Texas for one of the largest and most influential festivals of the year. South by Southwest, also known as SXSW, (or “South By” if you want to be annoying) will feature 16 15 14 Scottish bands in 2010. And Dear Scotland will be there too:
- Django Django – ‘Love’s Dart’ Reviewed As has been the trend recently, I have been very, very slow to post about these lads, despite having first heard and liked their stuff bloody ages ago. I honestly don’t know why, either, because I liked them from the very first time I heard them. Sometimes these things just happen, I guess.
