It’s a busy time for Scottish bands touring internationally. A glance at the Scotland On Tour listings shows that The Jetpacks have appearances at Coachella over the next two weekends, Mogwai are back on the East Coast, and Nazareth are in Europe. In 2010 DS interviewed Django Django when they were set to make their first trip to SXSW, but unfortunately the band never made it due to visa issues. This year The Djangos finally made it to Austin and were undoubtedly one of the buzz bands of the week. Here is that interview with new video. [...]
The South by Southwest madness has already started here in Austin with the Film and Interactive festivals and SXSW Music officially starts on Wednesday. From various sources I have compiled a list of 59 Scottish gigs over the next few days. My head is already spinning.

Earlier today the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) updated its list of showcasing artists for the 2012 music event. Included in that announcement are the first two Scottish bands who are expected to make the trip to Austin next March – Laki Mera and Three Blind Wolves. More below.
One week to go and the [un]official SXSW free party list is out. Reading this list will give you a headache, such is the amount of bands, free booze and bbq listed. But that’s good practice if you plan to attend, because that’s how your head will feel all week.
Two weeks to go and more details have surfaced about the Scottish shows at South by Southwest 2011. Sadly it appears that Django Django may have dropped out but I’ve put together a nice little table featuring all the gigs that are currently scheduled.
I had the chance to speak with a few people over the past week to get the inside scoop on what Scottish bands will be heading to Austin next month, and it looks like there will be a record 17 bands here for SXSW. The full list is below:
SXSW has just released, earlier than ever, the first list of acts who have been invited to perform in Austin at South by Southwest 2011. Among the first 100 or so named are three Scottish acts: Jon Fratelli, Steve Mason and Dam Mantle. We’ll keep you updated here whenever more are announced.
