Veronica Falls by Vic Galloway

After the demise of The Royal We and Sexy Kids, Glasgow-based indie obsessives and scenesters Roxanne and Patrick moved to London and formed the excellent Veronica Falls. A new outfit very much in awe of the classic C86 sound, they throw in some unbridled 60’s nuggets, garage rock’n’roll and even a wee touch of goth into the mix to create a 2 boy, 2 girl pop machine.

Since putting the band together and writing the songs, the buzz has been quite intense on the London circuit and a deal was recently struck with Bella Union records in the UK, home to Fleet Foxes amongst others. Their debut album is out now and it’s a fantastic collection.

Almost every song could be a single and shows them as a real force to be reckoned with, albeit in an understated, self-effacing, gloomy kind of way. They now embark on a a lot of touring with bands such as Dum Dum Girls and The Drums, other bands with a huge acknowledged debt to the halcyon days of classic indie-pop. Catch them on the West Coast of the USA this week and enjoy their moody brilliance!
