After a massively successful SXSW in Austin Texas, where they impressed huge amounts of people at the ‘Showcasing Scotland – Night’ in Maggie Mae’s as well as at various other shows, Admiral Fallow continue their US jaunt by hitting the East Coast. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend you get along to see them, as they are sure to playing larger venues soon.

The popular and influential Paste Magazine voted them as 1 of their 10 favourite performances at SXSW. Considering there are over 2000 bands playing, that’s some achievement. It looks like they may well be one of the next big things out of Scotland.

If you’re unfamiliar with the band, they have an inspired front-man and singer-songwriter in the form of freshly tattooed Louis Abbot, who spits out his deeply personal lyrics and over a back-beat of acoustic guitar, bass, drums, flute and clarinet. Their sound blends folk, indie and classic-pop influences and could easily see them follow in the footsteps of Mumford & Sons to become a genuine success story.

I’ve had them in session on various occasions, I’ve seen them live loads and thoroughly encourage you to track down a copy of ‘Boots Met  My Face’ – their debut LP which is about to be re-released with extra tracks and live songs. They’re on their way back to Scotland now, but if you’re in Boston go and see them for yourself. Very certainly ones to watch!
