The 2011 Scottish international tour calendar finally gets going this week with Three Blind Wolves in the Netherlands and Primal Scream in New Zealand and Australia. And Vic has more on the Phantom Band who are in Ireland.

The Phantom Band in Cork, Dublin and Limerick
by Vic Galloway

The Phantom Band are absolutely superb, make no bones about it. Their debut album ‘Checkmate Savage’ was a triumph, and their sophomore effort ‘The Wants’ ups the ante even further.

With indie, folk, psychedelia, krautrock and electronica all in the mix, it defies categorisation and honestly makes them sound like no-one else, past or present. They now have a new drummer and are coming into their own in the live arena as well as in the studio.

If you’ve never experienced their live show, you’re in for a treat as they lay down a strangely danceable yet bleak voodoo stomp wherever they decide to cut some action… Brilliant band – go and see them I urge you!
