Scotland will play the Faroe Islands later today in a friendly match at Pittodrie. The game will be streaming live on Sky Player to viewers in the UK, but if you live abroad and connect using Expat Surfer, you won’t need to search out dodgy internet sites to see the match.

Levein has received some criticism for scheduling this friendly but any Scotland fan knows that we always have trouble against the so-called “smaller” teams so it could be worthwhile. Levein has also announced that Villa’s Barry Bannan and Liverpool’s Danny Wilson will start tonight.

The Scotland v Faroes game kicks off at 8pm (UK time) and is live on Sky Sports 1. Using Expat Surfer, Scots abroad can watch the match through Sky Player if you have been authorised by someone with a Sky subscription. (Sky subscribers can authorize up to 4 computers). More info below.

With the Expat Surfer, there is no software to download, you just need to follow the instructions to redirect your computer to connect to stand-alone servers in the UK so your computer will be using a UK IP address. This allows you to freely access online TV sites, from anywhere in the World, as if you were in the UK.

The service costs about US$10 a month but you can try it out for free first. It takes about 15 minutes tops to set up.

  1. If you or a friend or family member have Sky in the UK there will be a “SKY ID” on the bill. That allows the subscriber to sign up for Sky Player and watch many of the channels online.

They can also authorize 3 other computers to access Sky Player and if you have that Sky ID and Expat Surfer you can now watch Sky TV, live and on demand, anywhere in the world.
