Vic is back from his jollies and will return to Radio Scotland tonight with Kid Canaveral live. Bands on tour this week include Hey Enemy, Teenage Fanclub and The Cinematics but Vic has more on Glasgow’s Sparrow and the Workshop who will join Biffy Clyro, The View, and Broken Records in Ireland for Arthur’s Day.

Sparrow and the Workshop
by Vic Galloway

If you don’t know about this Glasgow-based trio, they consist of an American girl, a Scotsman and a Welshman and batter out a twisted, soulful type of indie-country twang that is aimed straight at the heart. They’re raw and wild and have an arsenal of excellent tunes contained on the debut full-length album ‘Crystals Fall’ which was my LP of the month for April on Radio 1.

I’ve been playing them since they were unsigned and have had them in the studio playing live on various occasions. It’s really satisfying for me to see them breaking out of Scotland and taking their brilliant songs and live show to new places. Get along and see them — you will not be disappointed!
