After a year writing about all the great Scottish acts playing around the world, Vic is off to Gothenburg at the weekend to perform a DJ set at the Ritz and quite rightly it’s the gig of the week. More details below along with info on every other Scottish show abroad this week.

Codeine Velvet Club will be playing in Bucharest tomorrow and head to Japan later this summer for what will likely be their last gig. Still, the band fronted by Scotland’s Most Eligible Lady Lou Hickey and Jon Fratelli went down a storm at SXSW and Lou recently spoke to us about that experience and more:
Runrig have announced a couple of upcoming tours of Denmark and Germany. The band who feature one of Scotland’s Greatest Ever Drummers in Iain Bayne will also tour the UK in December finishing with a show at the Barrowlands on December 18. Full details below:
This time next year, we’ll be in the final stages of the inaugaral “Four Associations” tournament in Dublin. This competition, announced in March 2009, will see Northern Ireland, the Republic, Scotland, and Wales compete in a round-robin format where the winner will… well, nothing really. There doesn’t seem much point to the whole thing.
I know I should probably start by giving a synopsis about the band, but that just isn’t my style. With the French Wives, it’s even more difficult as I find myself in a situation where I could be seen to be a bit ‘fan boy’ about them. At 31, this isn’t the best of looks.
