The Unwinding Hours is a new band featuring Iain Cook and Craig B, former members of Glasgow’s critically acclaimed and much loved Aereogramme. They are heading out to Europe on their first tour next week and have already released a gorgeous new single and video. Full details below:

The Unwinding Hours featured in Peenko’s “Ones to Watch in 2010” feature earlier this year:

Would you care to introduce yourself?
Hello. The Unwinding Hours are Craig B and Iain Cook

How would you describe the music you make?
Rock. (If I describe it anymore I will sound like a pretentious twat. If someone else describes it, it’s ok!)

How did you start out making music?
Over fifteen years ago, I used to travel to West Lothian to visit Iain because he had a Tascam four track recorder. He really knew how to use it well and would record the extremely naïve songs I used to write in my bedroom.

What process goes into the way you write songs?
It hasn’t changed much except Iain now has a studio on the south side of Glasgow that we record in. I usually start the song off on guitar or on the computer and then we both flesh it out and turn it into something much more interesting.

What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?
Our first gig was at the Celtic Connections festival on January the 31st at Chemikal Underground 15th birthday party. We will tour the new album at some point as well.

Lastly, the question that’s on everyone’s lips is it possible to blow a balloon up under water?
If I have a question about anything at all, I write it into Google and somewhere at some point someone has asked that question and somewhere at some point, there has been a nerd on hand to answer.
