The Law will return to Austin for SXSW 2010 having been part of the Scottish contingent in 2008 and at the time of writing, the band have 8 gigs scheduled during the 4 day festival. Full details on these performances are below and will be updated if and when further gigs are added.
The Dear Scotland Interview with The Law was published earlier today:
Dear Scotland: What will be your first words on stage at your SXSW showcase in front of all the fans and industry types?
Stuart Purvey, The Law: I don’t really know. That all depends on what kind of mood I’m in at the time I suppose. ‘Hello, we are The Law’ is a good bet though.
Dear Scotland: What should the Scottish national anthem be?
Stuart Purvey, The Law: Without question it should be the opening track on our album, ‘Don’t Stop, Believe’.
Towards the end of 2009 The Law began to receive several spins on North American radio, leading to numerous adds for ‘Don’t Stop, Believe’ on alternative speciality radio stations, including WBER in New York, KUSF in San Francisco, and KROQ in Los Angeles. The track entered the Top 5 of the official FMQB sub modern chart (with the album also debuting at number 5), and the influential KKBB singles chart where it ranked at No.4.
In addition to the airplay, The Law had their music featured in the hit ABC network American television show ‘GREEK’ who used the tracks ‘Still Got Friday to Go’ and ‘Man in the Moon’. On top of this, ‘Don’t Stop, Believe’ was used in the international trailer for movie ‘The Men Who Stare Goats’.
2010 will see The Law build on the success of 2009 and take their debut album to new audiences. Following the German tour in January, the band are planning several North American dates in March, including New York City, Los Angeles and an appearance at the legendary South By South West Festival in Austin, Texas. As they say in Dundee, OOH AH UP THE LAW!
