So here we go, it’s time for the last of my tips for 2010 and what a belter we have to round things off, none other than the mysterious beings known as Silver Columns. Imagine Jimmy Somerville being horse whipped by the Hot Chip boys and you’re half way there.
It’s haunting disco pop (now that’s something I never thought I’d be writing about!) but I’m completely hooked on this band. If that doesn’t sound good to you then why not trust this lastfm comment “he sounds like the old pedo from family guy! omg. good music”. Then again you could just download their debut single ‘Browbeaten’ below.
Their identity may well be a closely guarded secret, but thankfully through the medium of the web, one of the mysterious Silver Column beings took the time out to answer a few questions for me, here’s what he/she had to say…..

How would you describe the music you make?
I would describe it as ‘effervescent’ and ‘sparkling’. That doesn’t necessarily mean ‘gay’.

How did you start out making music?
Turning on the computer.

What process goes into the way you write songs?
Turning on the computer. Followed by putting on the kettle. And the rest is magic.

What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?
Our third single will be out in a few months. And then an album will be out not long after that. And then some live shows. We’re contemplating doing a T-Shirt. And an effervescent and sparkling energy drink, that comes with a thick spongey pink straw.

Lastly, the question that’s on everyone’s lips is it possible to blow a balloon up under water?
Yes, it is possible. Although it’s a lot more difficult if you’re in a jacuzzi. Or maybe it’s easier. I’ll try it, and will let you know.
