We Were Promised Jetpacks European and North American Tour Dates

With one of the best albums of 2009 and a growing following at home, We Were Promised Jetpacks look set to be Scotland’s next breakthrough act. The band have announced a headline tour of Europe and North America which will keep them on the road until March. Full details below.

The European tour starts in the Netherlands and winds it’s way through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. After a short break the Jetpacks then hit America for 18 more gigs starting in New York at the Bowery Ballroom. Currently the last date on the tour is March 7th in Kansas which puts them in the vicinity of Austin where the SXSW festival starts just ten days later.

When We Were Promised Jetpacks were in Brooklyn last year, they were kind enough to do a short interview with Dear Scotland ahead of their first ever show at the Bowery. They also did a short set and a more extensive interview with former MTV VJ John Norris at Fontana’s in the Lower East Side. The interview is in five parts.

  1. BTW, Kansas is in the vicinity of Austin, TX the same way that Glasgow is in the vicinity of Paris. The US is a f**king big place, as the Jetpacks and the former occupants of the Fat Cat tour van, Twilights and Rabbits, know oh-too-well.

  2. Thanks Anon. Well the borders of Texas and Kansas are only about 25 miles at some points though to be fair it’s still about a 12 hour drive from Lawrence, Kansas down here to Austin.

I admit that “vicinity” was perhaps a bit of a stretch. But even the old Fat Cat van could do 12 hours in 10 days dont you think?

  3. I’m in China, so Kansas is most definitely in the vicinity of Austin. And Glasgow is in the vicinity of Paris, too. We are all global children now.
