Having played at this amazing festival in Rennes, Brittany a few years ago in a previous band of mine, I’m really looking forward to heading back over to cover the event for the radio. I’ll be doing a special French show on Monday 7th December on BBC Radio Scotland, so be sure to tune in.

Two Scottish bands have been chosen to play at the event, both of whom I already know and love:

Django Django (pictured above) are a playful beast, mixing up rockabilly and house with a splash of Beck and more of those pesky Beta Banditos! Makes sense as John Maclean’s brother Dave is a member of the Django team.

The Phantom Band (video below) are contenders for album of the year with ‘Checkmate Savage’ through the Chemikal Underground label – their sound is a beautiful dark mess of The Beta Band, Nick Cave, Krautrock, Psychedelia and experimentation that never sacrifices melody for sonic experimentation.

2 great bands, an amazing festival and lots of drunken Bretons… sounds like fun, eh?
